Red Eared Slider Feeding

Commercial Slider Food
Commerical slider food can be purchased at most pet stores across the country. The shape can be stick or pellet. The advantage of using it is easy to purchase and store for a long period of time. The disadvantage of using it is the leftover food. Most of times sliders can't finish them for one meal. The leftover food will dissolve into water.

Live food
Live slider food can be guppies, gold fishes, brian shrimps, ghost shrimps, earthworms, various vegatables, and crickets. They can be purchased in most pet stores. If you know how to grow them, you can save a lot of money in the long run. For example, you can buy inexpensive equipments from Ebay to raise brian shrimps. For guppies and ghost shrimps, if you buy a few, they will multiply very fast within a few months. It is fun to watch your slider to chase guppies and ghost shrimps.

Vegetables
Sliders are basically herbivorous in the wild, they will appreciate vegetable at feeding time. Fortunately, vegetables can be bought at any supermarket or grown in your backyard. Carrots, lettuce, cabbage, beets, radishes, cucumbers, etc., can all be chopped up into tiny cubes and tossed into the tank. Vegetables are nutritious and can be offered any time.
